At the inception of the project, various design consultants are appointed by the client, with the sole objective of getting construction drawings, so that contractor can develop the project from virtuality to reality, following the same drawings, resulting the project having desired usage and functionality. Additionally, client expects the project to be completed within the estimated time & cost.
Design of precast buildings for lateral loads is a point of challenge for structural engineers and a notion of worry for developers or end users. Reason being the lack of awareness and popularity of the precast construction technology. In this article, I am trying to explain the precast building design process in simple language, with the intent to infuse confidence and to shed the unnecessary inhibitions in the construction community.
The 3D BIM model is linked with a database of project information to create and manage complex construction projects with accuracy and less hassle. BIM provides a clear vision of the overall project and allows the stakeholders of a project the architects, engineers, contractors, and owners to add their own discipline-specific knowledge throughout the project life cycle.
